Ray is an Art Therapist who joined Expressive Therapies in June 2024 after graduating from Edgewood College in Madison, WI, with a Master of Science in Art Therapy. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Art Therapy in 2019.
Ray is specifically interested in contemplative art therapy, believing that art can tap into our instinctual ability to self-regulate and self-actualize through a strong connection between the mind and the body. However, she understands that all clients have specific needs, which requires her to base every therapeutic approach on the needs of her clients. Ray integrates art into every therapeutic approach, realizing that art, music, and movement were our original communication styles well before literacy was invented. Using this expressive approach allows for the whole person to be involved in the therapy session, mind, body, and soul, as they are all interconnected and influenced by one another.
